A Review On Latest Features Of Motorola Edge S 5G

It’s easy to understand if you think of the Motorola Edge S 5G as a slightly bare version of the Motorola Edge Plus, the return of the mobile phone manufacturer to the world of leading devices. More powerful processors and cameras are missing, and Motorola is running low on the battery. In exchange, you get a phone that is $ 300 cheaper and no longer connects to Verizon’s cellular network.

In fact, without the mid-range price tag, the Motorola Edge could quickly get a premium phone. It has a sleek curved screen, a front camera with a “hole,” a 64-megapixel primary camera, and more features that at first glance make you look like you are working with a phone that costs more than it’s cost.

1-OLED 6.7 Inch Display

Motorola Edge S

The Motorola Edge S big display is a 6.7-inch OLED panel with the best resolution of 1080 x 2340. It’s not an as high resolution as a flagship device like the Samsung Galaxy S20, but it is suitable for most phones competing with Edge. Though these rivals usually have AMOLED panels that display brighter colors. The OLED Edge display is HDR10, the main difference between it and HDR10 + Edge Plus. The refresh rate is faster is a unique addition to the Motorola Edge S. Scrolling web pages is a lot of fun, as you’ll see when you switch between the 60 Hz and 90 Hz options.

You can even trust Edge to make the decisions for you by enabling a setting that automatically adjusts the screen’s refresh rate based on whether you are using a 90Hz refresh rate or whether it makes more sense to use Image not to overload the phone’s battery.

2-Design Of Motorola Edge S

Motorola Edge S

The Motorola Edge S is slim both to look at and hold, good in large part to the Edge’s permanent display that curves around the edges. This isn’t a slight narrowing on the Samsung Galaxy S20 – other than, the screen wraps around the sides at a 90-degree angle, which really equals the phone’s name. Due to this curved display, the phone’s volume button and power button are on the back on the far right.

If the Edge Plus measures 161.1 x 71.4 x 9.6 mm and weighs 203 grams, the Edge measures 161.64 x 71.1 x 9.29 mm and weighs 188 grams. The edges are bigger but thinner and lighter. The difference in weight helps cheaper phones in terms of ease of use.

This phone is not waterproof. Many competing devices, including those in the middle class, have IP68 dust and water protection. Instead, the Motorola Nano covers the inner cover and makes the Edge “splash proof.” The rain is good; the pool is not.

I like the Solar Black and Midnight Magenta color choices. Our unit is black. There’s no gradient at the end, but there’s an exciting shine that’s bluer than black. I also appreciate the headphone jack that most competitors today don’t have.

3-Cameras

Motorola Edge S

One of Motorola’s areas that have been reduced on the Motorola Edge Plus is the camera included in the Motorola Edge S. Instead of the 108-megapixel plus sensor – the same as the Galaxy S20 Ultra – the Motorola Edge has a 64-megapixel primary camera. Other optics are:

  1. A 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
  2. An 8-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
  3. A flight time sensor.

Photos taken with the primary camera have a good level of detail, but the colors are not really showing, and the photo may also look a little dark. We assume that this is due more to Motorola’s post-processing software than to the hardware. Different mobile companies like Samsung and Apple take great photos because their image optimization is good and doesn’t seem to be here.

In conclusion, let’s talk about the 25MP f / 2.0 front camera for selfies – this is probably our favorite spy band. The photos taken with him are pretty bright (at least by edge standards) and very detailed. Portrait mode can blur the background while keeping the subject focused and smoothing out facial features without getting too excited. In fact, it is one of the best selfie camera portrait modes we have tested.

4-Performance Of Motorola Edge S

Motorola Edge S

Perhaps the biggest difference between the Motorola Edge S and the Edge Plus is the chipset apart from the different camera lineups. While the Plus has a high-end Snapdragon 865 processor, the Edge has a mid-range Snapdragon 765G coupled with 6 G.B. of RAM.

These may sound like average specs on paper, but we rarely feel that the CPU is underperforming in practice. Of course, Edge loses some of the Snapdragon 865’s advantages, such as B.K. Video 60fps, but the overall performance is impressive.

Even demanding apps work well on the Motorola Edge. I made a call on PUBG Mobile and didn’t notice any game-changing delays or interruptions. A more powerful phone makes the graphics a little sharper, but the gameplay itself is more than excellent. My only gripe is that I find it challenging to get my avatar to rotate – a difficulty I would attribute to the phone’s curved edges, which in my opinion, increases the likelihood of accidental touches.

5-Software

Motorola Edge S

Edge comes with Android 10 along with Motorola’s updated My UX skin. The standard version of Android with some performance changes, especially for Motorola phones. Moto Action is a highlighting feature here that lets you activate gestures to automate basic tasks. For example, if you want to mute the buzzer, turn the phone over. Do you need to take a screenshot? Touch the screen with three fingers.

Moto Display is optimized for edge-to-edge screens. You can create edge notification lights and custom gestures that you can access by tapping or sliding your finger on the side of the phone. The Moto Gametime will allow you to change performance settings and turn off notifications. You can even assign a dedicated shoulder button for your favorite game on the Edge of the screen.

6-Durability Of Motorola Edge S

Motorola Edge S

Sustainability is our most significant design concern at Edge. Even though Motorola uses Gorilla Glass 5 for its curved screen, it doesn’t seem like Motorola can stand the fall without damage. It’s likely that the plastic back will remain intact, as will the aluminum case. And while Motorola says the phone is splash resistant, it doesn’t have an official I.P. rating, meaning it doesn’t have official protection from dust or water. You can find a more robust headset at the L.G. Velvet.

Concluding Remarks On Motorola Edge S 5G

The Motorola Edge S 5G is the best phone for those moto lovers who want 5G for less than $ 1,000. It offers better 5G support than the OnePlus 8 for the same price, although the OnePlus 8 has a faster processor, so you’ll have to choose which one is best for you. If you’re an AT&T customer, the L.G. Velvet has many of the same features as the Moto Edge, plus official water protection for a fraction of $ 100. In any case, there’s still enough room for 5G in this price range to fix it, but we’re excited to see a newly available option. Solid in the form of the Moto Edge.
